Using your inbox
Search your mail
Find a conversation by subject, sender, or the words inside the message.
Search looks across every mailbox you have access to and matches on subjects, sender addresses, and the text inside messages.
Type into the search box at the top of the inbox and press Enter.
What search covers
- Conversation subjects.
- Sender names and email addresses.
- The body text of messages.
Partial words match, so searching weasel finds weaselco.com. You do not need to type a whole word or a whole address.
Narrowing results
Search respects whichever mailbox is selected in the sidebar. Choose one first, then search, and results only come from that mailbox. This is the fastest way to find something when you know which project it belongs to.
To search everything again, select Inbox in the main navigation rather than a mailbox in the sidebar, then run the search from there.
Tips
- Search for the sender's domain to find every conversation with a company, not just one person there.
- Search for a distinctive phrase from the message rather than the subject. Subjects are often generic, message bodies rarely are.
- If you remember an attachment but not the message, search for the filename.
What search does not cover
- Text inside attachments. A PDF's contents are not searchable, only its filename.
- Archived conversations are excluded from the inbox list.
