Get started
Quick start
Connect your first domain, create an address, and receive your first message in about fifteen minutes.
This guide takes you from an empty account to a working email address on your own domain. Most of the time is spent waiting for DNS to update.
Before you start
- A domain you own, for example
learnfarsi.app. - Access to that domain's DNS settings at your registrar.
- A MailMoose account with an organisation selected.
Steps
- Go to Domains and select Add domain.
- Enter your domain name and select Add domain again. MailMoose generates the records you need.
- Open the domain's settings, the gear at the end of its row, and add the three DKIM records it shows at your registrar. These are safe to add at any time and change nothing about mail you currently receive.
- Return to MailMoose and select Check DNS in that same panel. Records show as found once they are live, usually within a few minutes.
- Open your domain's row and, under Addresses, enter the part before the @ and select Add address.
- Change your MX record last, once the address exists. See Move incoming mail for the detail, because this is the step that redirects live mail.
Verify it worked
Send an email to your new address from any other account. It appears in your MailMoose inbox within a minute of the MX record taking effect.
Common issues
- Records show as not found. DNS changes take time. Wait ten minutes and check again.
- Records still not found after an hour. Your registrar may have added your domain to the record name automatically. See DNS records explained.
- Nothing arrives after you change MX. Your old mail provider may still be receiving. Check that you removed the previous MX records rather than adding alongside them.
- You cannot create an address. The domain has to be verified first. Open its settings, the gear at the end of the row, and select Check DNS.
