Using your inbox
Attachments
How MailMoose stores files sent to you, and how to download them safely.
Files sent to your addresses are stored privately and listed under the message they arrived with. Nothing is public, and no attachment has a guessable link.
Downloading a file
- Open the conversation.
- Find the file listed below the message body, with its name and size.
- Select it. The file opens in a new tab or downloads, depending on its type.
Download links are created when you select the file and expire after five minutes. A link copied from your browser history will not work later, which is deliberate. Attachments routinely contain invoices, contracts, and identity documents.
Size limits
- Individual attachments up to 30 MB are stored.
- Larger files are skipped, and the message still arrives with its text intact.
- Most mail providers refuse messages over 25 MB in total, so files rarely reach the limit.
Images inside messages
Images that are part of a message's design, such as a logo in a signature, are handled separately from attachments. They are blocked until you select Show images, because a hidden image tells the sender you opened the message.
Images attached deliberately, such as a photo someone sent you, appear in the attachment list.
A note on safety
MailMoose scans incoming mail for spam and viruses and records the result on each message. It does not open or inspect the contents of your files.
Apply the same judgement you would anywhere else:
- Check the authentication badge on the message before opening anything financial.
- Be wary of unexpected invoices, even from names you recognise.
- A message that failed authentication is a strong signal the sender is not who they claim to be.
